Pink says new album motivated by love
Pop star Pink says her long-awaited new album, due out later this year, was motivated by love.
The first single from the album The Truth About Love was released on Tuesday. 'Blow Me (One Last Kiss)' - which Billboard says is "fiesty, energetic and vengeful as ever" - was released one week ahead of its scheduled release date after it was leaked online.
"Blow Me (One Last Kiss) is sort of at the point where you've just had enough," Pink told the Nine Network's Today show.
"I feel like that in certain situations in love, life we hold on so tightly that we squeeze the air out of everything, and if we can just all relax we possibly wouldn't self-sabotage ourselves.
"It's very psychological."
The multi-Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter says the new album was inspired by the all-consuming emotion - love.
"The motivation of this is love and all of the different shades of it, dark, light, happy, sad, what love can motivate you to do, just all of it, just exploring, how much it can hurt and how much it can feel good.
"Young love, wiser love, drunk love, sober love, all the many colours," Pink told the show.
Her sixth album, recorded with producer Greg Kursten, is her first full album since 2008 and her first new material since the 2011 birth of daughter Willow Sage, who features on the record.
"We had an incredible time and Willow played bells and bass on a couple of other songs," Pink, 32, said in earlier in June.
The star will be accompanied by husband Carey Hart and daughter Willow when she visits Australia later this year as part of a promotional tour for The Truth About Love.
