Robin Gibb denies he's close to death

Robin Gibb denies he

Ailing Bee Gees star Robin Gibb has spoken out to deny reports he's on his "last legs", assuring fans he is recovering well in his cancer battle.

Recent tabloid reports suggested the singer is bedridden and frail following intensive chemotherapy to treat the disease, but he's taken to his official blog to set the record straight.

"I want to take the opportunity to say I feel better than I've done in a long time, and that I'm not on my last legs as some newspapers make it appear!" Gibb wrote.

The Stayin' Alive singer also shared his pride after British singing trio The Soldiers paid him a surprise visit to hand him a gold record certifying high sales of their recent collaboration.

"Gary, Richie and Ryan of The Soldiers came to see me a couple of days ago and they presented me with a gold disc," he added.

Gibb teamed up with The Soldiers to re-record the Bee Gees' 1968 hit I've Gotta Get a Message to You, which they released last October as a charity single to raise money for the armed forces.
